Book and Class News

I’ve been working a lot on the TurboGears book and class this last week, and I just got done with a several hour review of the history and theory behind MVC programming. I don’t know how much of this will make it into the final book, but it sure is a fascinating topic with lots to think about.

Anyway, I will be announcing the dates and times for the Ann Arbor and online version of the TurboGears class next week. There will be no fee for either class (though I might open up the online class for more people if some people want to chip in to cover bandwidth costs). The class will have a pre-lesson in Python basics, and will cover MVC programming, SQLObject, Kid, CherryPy, TurboGears widgets, the TurboGears toolbox, and fast data controllers AKA Simple CRUD, and lots more.

You’ll be the first to see information from the upcoming TurboGears book, and the only price of admission is that you give us the best feedback you can so that we can make the best book we can.

  1. If you’re taking registration already, I’d be interested in both the online class (I’m too far from Ann Arbor to attend the face-to-face class) and book previews. I’d be very happy to give feedback on both.

If not, well, sorry for jumping the gun. Think of this as encouragement: somebody is grateful for the work you’re doing. :-)

    Mark,

I’m looking forward to your online class.

IMO, it would be very helpful (at least for me), if you also cover the topic “how to approach a new TG application”.

While it might be quite straight-forward to create a Wiki, it might not be that obvious for other applications. Especially for ajaxian web applications that rely on a lot of JavaScript.

(My personal preference was to have a resource centric view and approach.)
