And to clarify a point you made, AJAX would allow a view to poll the model, but subscribing to model changes would require a &quot;push&quot; to the browser that is unavailable in HTTP.

I like Java&#039;s AWT/Swing subscription model in order to update the views.  It makes live views very easy to implement.</description>
