I like a lot of this 'enlightenment' particularly how vision relates to mission and mission to values. I suppose the only point I would debate (not argue) is that a vision needn't be achievable in terms of metrics as it should be aspirational and not necessarily tangible (isn't that why its called a vision?) Goal orientated, SMART metric stuff of course applies to missions and tasks.

Vision is nothing but, the BIG PICTURE about a company,Institute, project and why to leave an individual with his DREAMS.....the vision is nothing but the DREAM that helps one to see the future prospects. Most of the organisation fails if they do not have a shared Vision. The people fail to be successful if they do not set a Vision for their lives. The BIG PICTURE helps you through the process to move to towards a particular direction and achieve what is been predecided.
Well, if we talk abt mission it is the tool to help achieve the Vision....the entire process is just like moving on the stairs....Mission is the STEPS on the stair case; reaching the VISION i.e the final Floor in mind say the Top floor of a building.
This procedure also has a MANDATE/GOAL....which means further fragmentation of MISSION to make the Task more easier and Goal oriented....with every fragment you move on, you move more closer to your Mission and Vision respectively!
All set....All the Best!!!

A vision must be attainable and realistic. Vision must have a mission statement that will pilot one in achieving your vision. Vision, mission without values is like a forest without trees.
